Restaurant Greetje
  • Restaurant Greetje
  • Restaurant Greetje
Dutch cooking has come on leaps and bounds in recent years, as is evidenced by restaurants such as Greetje. Named after the owner's mother, and spread over the ground floors of a pair of handsome old houses, it serves re-worked Dutch specialities using local produce and ingredients. Everything from the bread, which is served with pork belly fat to spread on, and potatoes, which may come as a stamppot mash mixed with vegetables, is unusual.
Go for
Superb Dutch cuisine
Specialities to order
Memorable, permanent fixtures on the menu include the Friesian sugar bread sandwich filled with duck liver terrine, and the liquorice ice cream pudding (the Dutch love liquorice sweets).
Selection of starters and puds
If especially hungry, order Greetje's Big Beginning (a selection of various starters) and/or Greetje's Grand Finale (a selection of desserts).
A canal view
Ask for table number 7 when you book: it's the only one with a canal view.
